| [Posted by DaveHaber on 1/6/10 1:33 PM] I don't know, but this question has been on my mind too, as snippets of the Shea concert film performance were included in the recent Paul McCartney Good Evening New York City DVD. The Shea snippets looked and sounded great. I hope they do release the whole Shea concert in full!

| [Posted by DaveHaber on 1/6/10 2:35 PM] I don't know, I haven't seen the full concert film for many decades. Specifically, what songs were they? If Ringo's song was "Act Naturally", that's not Lennon/McCartney, and it's possible they couldn't get the rights to include it in the film. Just a guess... -Dave

I heard one rumor years ago that they were changing film when George was singing his song. You never know what to believe. I just hope they do release it one day. jc

| [Posted by namralos on 1/7/10 3:02 PM] The complete set list included: "Twist and Shout" (John) "She's a Woman" (Paul) "I Feel Fine" (John) "Dizzy Miss Lizzie" (John) "Ticket to Ride" (John with Paul) "Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby" (George) "Can't Buy Me Love" (Paul) "Baby's in Black" (John and Paul) "Act Naturally" (Ringo) "A Hard Day's Night" (John and Paul) "Help!" (John) "I'm Down" (Paul) The show was made available to Ed Sullivan's company for broadcast in 1996. With regard to the Sullivan version of the Beatles at Shea Stadium, two tracks were omitted ("She's a Woman" and "Everybody's...Baby"). The recording of "Twist and Shout" was actually replaced in the TV special with one of the Hollywood Bowl versions (from 1965). Most of the others were subjected to alterations made by the band at CTS studios in January, 1966. "I Feel Fine," "Help," and "Baby's in Black" were actually re-recorded at CTS for the broadcast. For this broadcast, the Shea recording of "Act Naturally" was replaced by the studio record -- with crowd noise added on top. A complete, clean copy of the original Shea AUDIO surfaced in 2005 and was auctioned off by "It's Only Rock 'n' Roll." So...the original audio still exists, but it hasn't been available in high quality; the whole concert is out there on YouTube. I believe that there WERE a few seconds of video that were excluded from "Everybody's...Baby," due to a film change, but the complete audio still exists. Look for "beatles shea trying baby" on YouTube, and you'll find it. There are bootleg DVD's on Amazon, but I really hope the complete original show will come out as an official DVD. Frank Daniels

| [Posted by jc62 on 1/8/10 6:54 AM] Frank, I did purchase a copy from Amazon a year or so ago that has two versions on it. One is the usual one we have seen over the years and the other one states it is the original complete broadcast. This one does have Everbody's Trying to Be My Baby, but you never see George singing but you do hear him. If I remember right, they are panning around the stadium when he is singing rather then seeing him. Are you familiar with this version and if so would this be considered the version we would see if they do offically release it? Thanks jc

| [Posted by namralos on 1/8/10 7:22 AM] I checked YouTube. The clip of the song lasts 2:37. The version found there shows the band playing for part of the song, but you never see George sing. The clip was probably compiled from existing footage of the song, and from other footage that is being used as filler. Frank

That's sad to me that they ran out of film and had to change it when George was singing. But they had plenty of film when Sounds Incorporated was on, ha ha. jc

| [Posted by Wogew on 2/3/10 5:53 AM] The project utilized twelve cameras to film the group and the fans at Shea, so there's no way they all ran out of film simultaneously. "She's A Woman" and "Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby" were both included in an early print which Brian Epstein received from Sullivan Productions around 5 November 1965, which then ran to 54 minutes. By January, as it would be for the transmission, the film's duration had been cut to just under 48 minutes. There's no explanation for the missing songs.
